Our Story

Murphy’s Celebrity Hotdogs has an origin story as unique and flavorful as the hotdogs it serves. The food trailer was founded by Matt Berman, a seasoned director and producer who has spent years crafting compelling stories for the screen (credits include The Wedding Pact, The Wedding Pact 2: The Baby Pact, Manipulated and Hollywood & Wine.) But after countless days on set and late nights in editing rooms, Matt realized he had a new story to tell—one that revolved around delicious, affordable food and his lifelong love of his dog, Murphy.

The idea for the food trailer was born out of Matt’s desire to bring something different to the table, literally. Inspired by his rescue dog, Murphy, who had been his faithful companion since Matt adopted him at just eight months old, Matt envisioned a food trailer that was not only fun but also celebrated the things he cherished most: creativity, community, and comfort food. Murphy, whose name came from the rescue where Matt found him, quickly became the mascot and inspiration for the trailer. The logo, featuring Murphy’s playful likeness, is a loving tribute to the dog who brought so much joy into Matt’s life.

To bring his vision to life, Matt invited two of his closest friends and filmmaking collaborators, Rob and Valerie Mulligan, to join him on this new adventure. Matt had met Rob and Valerie on the set of some of his past films, where their shared passion for storytelling and camaraderie had forged a strong bond. The married couple eagerly jumped on board, excited to combine their creative energies with Matt’s vision.

The mission of Murphy’s Celebrity Hotdogs was clear from the start: to provide tasty, affordable food that brought smiles to people’s faces. Hotdogs, with their universal appeal and endless potential for customization, were the perfect choice. They were fun, approachable, and easy on the wallet—a combination that resonated with Matt and his team.

But the team wanted to go beyond just serving great food. They wanted to inject a sense of humor and personality into their menu, which is how the idea of celebrity pun-themed hotdogs was born. From the “Bun Jovi” to the “Bred Hot Chili Pepper Dog,” each menu item was crafted to spark laughter and curiosity while delivering on taste. The playful puns became the cornerstone of the trailer’s theme, setting it apart from other food trucks and making it a memorable experience for customers.

Since its launch, Murphy’s Celebrity Hotdogs has become more than just a food trailer; it’s a rolling celebration of creativity, humor, and community. Whether serving lunch outside a bustling film set, parking at a local festival, or catering birthday parties and private events, the trailer brings people together with its lighthearted vibe and mouthwatering menu. And at the heart of it all is Murphy, the dog who started it all, immortalized in every bite and every laugh.
